SGBS Unnati Foundation is a renowned non-profit organization which was established in 2011, committed to empowering disadvantaged, underprivileged, and unemployed youth by imparting them with essential skills for gainful employment. ‘Unnati’ offers a comprehensive 35-day training program spanning 300 hours that covers spoken English proficiency, life skills, ethical values, basic computer literacy, and vocational training. The foundation guarantees placement in a corporate setting with benefits for its successful graduates. SGBS Unnati Foundation strives to help young individuals aged 18-25 from difficult backgrounds realize their aspirations and contribute positively to society.

With over 2 decades of experience, the Unnati Foundation has successfully empowered more than 80,000 young people through its innovative programs such as UNNATI, UNXT, and SUGAM. In a recent milestone achievement, Unnati became the first organization to list a Zero Coupon Zero Principal (ZCZP) instrument on the prestigious Social Stock Exchange (SSE), receiving approvals from both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE). This historical feat underscores Unnati’s commitment to transforming the lives of underprivileged youth through sustainable and impactful initiatives.

Ramesh Swamy is a visionary leader with a strong passion for driving positive change in society. Through his efforts, he has brought many significant improvements in various areas such as education, music, and even funeral services. Ramesh Swamy embodies the spirit of transformation and progress, unifying communities through high-impact social movements. From humble beginnings within a small Bhajan group, SGBS (The Sree Guruvayurappan Bhajan Samaj Group), Ramesh and a select few trustees dared to dream big, launching three groundbreaking initiatives: Shiksha (funding children’s school education), Utsav (a celebratory Carnatic Music and Dance festival), and Samstha (funeral right services). These innovative projects have not only improved the quality of life for many but also serve as a testament to the power of collective action and determination.

Unnati has been incredibly successful in creating a sustainable employment ecosystem through its innovative approach to mobilizing the art-lover community in Bangalore. By providing training and resources to over 80,000 students across 30 centers and 200 government colleges, Unnati has not only proven itself as a proof of concept but also created a fully sustainable employment ecosystem with over 300 companies participating in campus placements. This is truly an impressive achievement.

Ramesh Swamy is a highly accomplished individual who has dedicated his life to championing social causes through his work in the NGO sector and his successful business ventures. His pro bono approach to running his logistics and distribution enterprise, as well as his leadership roles at SGBS Trust and SGBS Unnati Foundation, are truly admirable. CHALLENGES FACED BY SGBS DURING THE PANDEMIC

The organization has faced a lot of changelings during the pandemic.

• The effort to mobilize youth and outreach activity did not happen due to lockdown and travel restrictions.
• Youth from different places were not able to travel and get enrolled.
• Many Government Colleges did not function in full fledge
• They conducted online classes which could not give us much of results
• SGBS could not achieve the target/nos. Expected.
• The sponsors could not support SGBS in a big way as the announcement of support of Govt. contribution to CSR Funds. Etc.
• A new FCRA Account has to be opened only in SBI Delhi.
• Renewals get postponed and due to this company’s incoming Funds were locked.
• It was a herculean task to raise funds when every company was contributing to COVID relief.

• SGBS has a very good MIS Reporting system – Cloud Platform MIS Sixer Class.
• SGBS’s data collection is via the tech-based platform in English. Which also provides access to an e-learning app with over 600 videos and questions to the youth who attend our program.
• SGBS has adopted a blended learning model, combining e-learning with classroom instruction. This approach accommodates diverse learning styles, ensuring that all participants receive effective education and support.
• Youths trained and completed their training under our programs are issued Digital Certificates across all centers.
• SGBS has developed Their portal Udyogam. To bridge the gap between Unnati’s trained talent pool and companies seeking freshers, it has created a platform called UDYOGAM. This platform allows companies to filter their requirements and shortlist candidates based on video resumes that the organization has asked them to upload.
• It has also implemented a robust Financial system that ensures accountability across all its centers.
