Mr. Sakif Shamim has done MSC in Major Programme Management from the University of Oxford (UK), an MBA from the University of Chicago (USA), and a BBA from BRAC University. Hybrid Modular Green OT
In the world of Operation Theatres, Modular Operation Theater is a state-of-the-art system where all modern technologies are introduced to provide the best surgical care to the patient. Modular Operation Theater has Laminar Air Flow, AHU and HEPA Filter which purifies the air inside the operation theater and maintains the quality of surgical care.
Labaid Cancer Hospital and Super Speciality Centre has multiple state-of-the-art Hybrid Modular Green operation theaters, each equipped with anesthesia machines that strive for excellence, cool operating lighting fixtures, a high-efficiency air filtering system, central gas as well as suction, an image intensifier, electrosurgical unit, among other things. Operating rooms have strong infection prevention and control procedures and are staffed by skilled professionals of anesthesiologists, technicians, and nurses. These procedures ensure that patients receive the highest possible level of protection during and after the operation.
HDU – High-dependency unit
High dependency unit is a specialized facility that uses a wide range of equipment, monitoring devices and supportive treatments to assist with the care of our patients. HDUs are wards for people who need more intensive observation, treatment and nursing care than is possible in a general ward but slightly less than that given in intensive care. HDUs are specialist wards providing intensive care (treatment and monitoring) for people who are in a critically ill or unstable condition.
In Labaid Cancer Hospital and Super Speciality Centre, we have well equipped HDU unit where patients will get high-level care to patients who are suffering from single organ failure, except for respiratory failure requiring mechanical ventilation. The HDU consists of 07 beds. We provide care for patients with a variety of medical and surgical conditions and admit both emergency and planned admissions.
ICU – Intensive care unit
Intensive care is needed if patients are seriously ill and requires intensive treatment and close monitoring, or if they’re having surgery and intensive care can help them recover. Intensive care units (ICUs) are our special wards that provide treatment and monitoring for admitted patients. We have well equipped 10 bedded ICU unit. All the ICU bed is used advanced features with the cutting-edge technology.
Patients on an ICU will be looked after closely by our expert and well-trained team to provide seamless services.

CHALLENGES FACED BY LABAID DURING THE PANDEMIC
Cancer patients were vulnerable because their treatment procedure is highly risky and may impact their immune systems. That’s why the coronavirus situation has been a big challenge for cancer patients as well as cancer hospitals. If any cancer patient was infected with Covid-19, they might be at life risk and fear hospital treatment. To improve this situation, they strictly monitored international coronavirus protocols and health safety policies.
People/ patients had started taking treatments in their own country with cross-border travel resections. The virtual mode has come up in a big way.
